Re: TG: BRU not profitable, could be axed
OK, referring to my question about TG trouble, now I understand better. TG in a whole is in trouble, it is not just the BRU destination. But that is already a very long time. ( I don't know if TG has ever been profitable ) Wat is absolutely true, and even ashaming wealthy and well educated Thai nati...

Re: Why doesn't SN fly to Asia?
JNB ? You might have seen that I did not mention BKK by purpose as a possible destination. Because it failed in the past. And it is too competitive. Instead of JNB, it might be interesting to investigate CPT as South-African destination. We dealt with JNB as an old Sabena destination to start up aga...

Re: Why doesn't SN fly to Asia?
first: which initiatives can SN take independently? second: been there, done that and failed. ( still don't know why Sabena flew to Madras ) third: recent developments show the great risks e.g. overflying Ukraine. What with Russian territory/sanctions in the future ? Nobody knows. Uncertainty is a k...

Re: Background info on hiring techniques at the low cost airlines
I have a naive and genuine question out of ignorance: what is the reason that so many younger pilots fly as a self employed person instead of an employee of an airline? Is it their preference, so they would have more nett income? Or is it because there is no other way to be a pilot? Maybe they want ...

Re: ATR crash Transasia in Taiwan (again)
Astonishing. Now we see how fast this is happening. Just some seconds. At an airport an ATR may look small next to larger airplanes. But when this object comes to your direction, it looks huge. Sad for the fatalities, injured and families. If you see the small clip, it seems almost unbelievable that...

Re: AirAsia Indonesia flight QZ8501 missing / crashed
Do we have members on board who can explain what can cause such a sudden rise in altitude? If a pilot would do it manually to avoid a thunderstorm, he would have received several warnings, also stall? And the voice recorder would record some conversation between the pilots? Is there 1 possible techn...

Re: AirAsia Indonesia flight QZ8501 missing / crashed
It just popped in my mind that Airasia is also a Malaysian company. This might have been mentioned in other posts already, I am a bit too lazy to read through all messages again.
If the 3 last major crashes were all 100% involved with Malaysia, it is a bit difficult to still call this a coïncidence.

Re: 2015 Ostend-Bruges airport (OST/EBOS) latest news
Just a completely unbased idea: we always think about connecting Ostend with the UK. But there might be some interest in developing eastbound flights to serve the German customers who have a seaside residence e.g. at De Haan. As example I take Sylt Westerland airport. I do know personally 3 German b...

I missed about this aircraft. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-28260781 It reminds a bit to the T-37 and A-37 story. With that difference that the T-37 was ordered from the beginning. regarding the role it has to fulfill, it's main competitor is the concept of drones. But unmanned has disadvantages ...

Good for royal security is that the king...

Re: Subsidies to Belgian airlines
Side note about volumetric discounts: when I was a stubborn young hot shot sales rep I bluntly refused to give extra discount to large customers and/or group purchasers. Despite I didn't hold an economic Master's, I felt there was something suicidal in that system. Now decades later I know for 100% ...

But, even more importantly, managers lack the values, sensitivity, and awareness needed to interact effectively all day long with people. 60 years ...
