Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Exciting news. I really hope they'll finally start flying to South Africa (JNB, CPT). You can't be the 'African expert' airline, without flying to the most important tourist destination in Africa. As United flies already non-stop from Newark to Capetown, I don't think it will be a priority... Unfor...

I agree!
Remember the last time a major Belgian Airline tried really rapid growth? I think it ended somewhere in 2001... and it was called Sabena...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Hopefully it will not be the reverse of a saying of a steward some 20 years ago on an SN Avro RJ: "It looks like a chicken, but flies like an eagle".

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Or you could look at it from a slightly more positive angle: - After a traditional loss in Q1 (in line with expectations-budget) SN booked a record profit for a Q2 (after Q3 in 2022 was also a record Q3 performance already - after which LH also provided SN with the funds to do the advance re-paymen...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
And cut the direct link with Antwerp and beyond? ... And to top it off, have check-in facilities for the comfort of pax. I do apoligize for not being clear enough. I would build 4 stops on this people mover: Above line 36 Terminal Under line 25N, with a parking lot above the E19. Vilvoorde railways...

Mayve converting the diabolo to some kind of people mover and creating railwaystations on the main line could be an affordable solution... but it's a long shot...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
Pilanesberg - thanks for the recommendation, looks interesting indeed. I was more thinking of the CPT area (incl. Stellenbosch and Hermanus) combined with a couple of days in KNP. Sorry for the offtopic. Doesn't Lufti also fly out of MUC to CPT? Or is that only during the winter season? When going ...

For the moment all arrivals and departures are on 25L with some airplanes backtracking... A couple of hours ago all on 25R... is there a reason?

BRU-JNB-CPT with Air belgium
Hi, Normally I don't post any trip reports anymore, but as some blogger made a bad review of Air Belgium, I found it be my obligation to post this. Last wednesday I flew to, and yesterday I returned from CPT with Air Belgium for a quick business trip. i flew economy. I can report - punctuallity... e...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
The issue might be a bit more complex... The way the Diabolo has been constructed is that - every HST that needs to go to the airport station has to cross the slow tracks. - the station has just 3 platforms and they are already heavily used. I doubt a platform can be blocked for 10 minites to empty ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2022
It's "easy" to use Congo's traffic rights... by using a Congolese airline... but, as Citybird experienced with "les linges aériennes Congolaises", much more difficult to get your money for these flights out of Africa.
