As a frequent traveller on LOT, I can only recommend them. The Embraer 170/175/190s are very fast and comfortable. BRU-WAW is usually operated by 735s though, and only the 9.50am departure from BRU is systematically on an Embraer. I am not sure about AMS-WAW and WAW-KBP. The new terminal at WAW shou...

Entire SAS Dash 8-Q400 fleet grounded - major disturbances
Dear all, It seems that SAS has grounded all of its DH4s after the Aalborg and Vilnius incidents. This is causing havoc in most of Northern Europe. I was personally scheduled to fly on one of SAS' DH4s tomorrow from CPH to GDN. Since the purpose of the trip was a meeting in the afternoon and SAS are...

Where to get EU- & TSA-approved plastic bags in Brussels
Dear all, After hours of cumulated waiting time at baggage carrousels and an impressive number of lost bags (almost exclusively on AZ) in the last months when checking in luggage, and after finding myself with no shaving cream or toothpaste more than once when taking carry-on only, I have finally de...

My girlfriend and I happen to be going to the Caucasus for three weeks in August. We are booked on AirBaltic Brussels-Riga-Baku outbound, and Tbilisi-Riga-Brussels return. In all, about 550 EUR (although we booked a few weeks ago). I've never flown on AirBaltic but they seem all right. In addition, ...

How do the European Commissioners fly?
Dear all, With the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Treaty of Rome being held in Brussels and Berlin (and indeed numerous other cities), the question occured to me how European Commissioners - and in particular Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso - fly when going on official missions? I can...

Paid or courtesy upgrade on Delta transatlantic
Dear all, I am travelling to the US on Delta in early December: BRU-ATL-FLL-JFK-BRU. For now I've booked economy on all sectors, but for the return transatlantic leg that I am taking with my girlfriend I am thinking of upgrading to BusinessElite. Do any of you have experience with getting a courtesy...

Feasibility of BRU/CRL-GDN?
Dear all, I wanted to pick your brains regarding the feasibility of direct service between Brussels or Charleroi and Gdansk. Do you think the route would at this point make sense for SN, LOT, SkyEurope, WizzAir or anyone else? And/or are there any rumours regarding the interest of one or the other c...

Question about KLM flight 1734 BRU-AMS
Dear all, I have a quick question relating to the following: KLM has a daily flight (KL1734) departing BRU at 21.45, arriving AMS at 22.45. Given that there are almost no same-day connecting flights at AMS after 11pm, except for the occasional BON-GYE-UIO, I was wondering who uses that late BRU-AMS ...

China odyssey: BRU-AMS-PEK-AMS-BRU (KL), PEK-XIY-PEK (CA/MU)
As already announced, what follows is a report on my recent travels to China to attend the EU-China Aviation Summit in Beijing. After two days of conferencing, I had the chance to visit some of Beijing's highlights and Xi’an in China’s heartland – a trip that included two domestic flight experiences...
