I would certainly go for British airways, friendly staff, good food and your own tv screen in economy class. If you fly business class, the service is very well and both lounges in London and in JFK are nice. It will be probably operated by a B747.

I heard on the news that they made a profit of 1 million euro's in 2004, less than expected (high fuel prises) but not bad at all.

Have you checked the fares with SNBA ? They could be cheaper. And you would be supporting the national carrier ! Eventually you would end up on an AA plane ... they do a great job after the short haul award and the airline exellence award for europe from skytrax! this is the result from the very good service from SNBA!

That they still can sell those planes, i have flown twice with Alitalia in an MD83 an they are uncomfortable and old!
