Re: African operations possible with narrow body equipment
Not only, it also consists in projecting future needs (which is the hard part) and participating in setting up tenders that would match those needs in cooperation with other departments. It's also about presenting detailed cost projections and analysis to senior management who ultimately have to re...

Re: African operations possible with narrow body equipment
So now all of a sudden you work for a company that specialises in airline doing as you say yourself "And yes, I work for an airline in airworthiness management and as fleet/network adviser" As far as I understand your job is to advise airlines on which aircraft to keep which ones to sell a...

Re: African operations possible with narrow body equipment
All very well but Arik will fly a premium route with a lot business pax (oil industry) that not carry as much lugage. Now look at SN and its destinations and you will see that it mostly goes to what should be low yielding markets due to the category of passengers its flying but which is compensated ...

Re: Just fly for the sake of it
I don't travel for the sake of travelling but don't mind a little more inconvenience or paying a little more in order to travel through a particular airport, fly a particular plane or experience a particular airport. Now you need to strike a balance because it can get a little out of hand. But it ca...

Funny isn't it! A lot of companies are implementing measures which look strikingly similar to those taken by Brussels Airlines a couple of years back...

Re: African operations possible with narrow body equipment
Your plan would probably bankrupt SN to be honest. I thing there are a lot of costs which you are totally forgetting. Not only that but who would provide the financing? And which leaser would allow SN to rent a plane for 6 months then swap it for a bigger model? Though A333 are not perfect to start-...

Re: African operations possible with narrow body equipment
I have no lecture to receive from Tolipanebas nor from aviation management universities where teachers have either never worked in the industry or do work in the industry but have no awareness of what's happening around them. There are exceptions, but not many, Been there, seen that. Been where don...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
You only reply to the technical aspects, NOT the operational aspects!!!! To discuss operational aspects, you first need real world experience, something which NCB is obviously not flushed with to say the least.... BTW, I wouldn't even say he has seriously tackled any of the technical aspects...

Gonna start banging my head against the wall here!
How can you compare american operations (Little Cargo, little luggage) to AFI destinations (Lots of Cargo, lots of Luggage)
that is just wrong!

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
LOL NCB, read the same threat earlier: U'r nicely omitting and it is being said in the threat that these routes are routes whose plane are either low configuration, have extra tanks, or are operated by charter airlines! Do you see any problems with that when operating to/from Africa? I do, and I see...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
That has always intrigued me: how much of a competitive edge is SN's african track record? Is it that different to operate in Africa compared to anywhere else? It probably is and these questions are probably illustrative for my limited comprehension of the challenges in Africa. Therefore, I would v...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
IMHO there is no such thing as a high yield market. There are however high yield routes (city pairs) and there are certain airports or cities which combine more than 1 route which sport high yields. And simply stated: a high yield route is a route that results in a high contribution to the company'...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
My turn to teach... defending an agenda is not that easy. You hit the nail on the head with low weight, low volume, time-sensitive cargo... you have said it yourself! South Africa is world's number one diamond producer, JNB is Africa's largest diamond trading city, Antwerp is world's largest diamon...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
Ncb, Let me remind you of the definition of a high yield Market: A high yield Market is either a destination where there is low supply and high demand (connecting flights are high supply even though they are not as attractive for high paying passengers),or a Market where there is a high % of busines...

Reading your profecies and comments makes me smile. $tar is a real professional orgnization, just building the biggest Alliance ever. They will make BRU grow (or shrink). BRU better listens to them then to consultants (?) like you (?) ... Wait and see. Yes I'm active in the passenger transport sect...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
attracting "cheap" passengers will not make SN succesful! PTV is a gimmick that may or may not attract passengers. As an airline you have to look at the operational side and the marketing side! I'm no expert in the operation side and will let Tolipanebas refute some arguments here. But fro...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
U r falling into that easy trick of thinking that what makes a different is PTV! Sorry but it's not by putting PTV that you attract customers! It's by being part of an alliance, brand recognition... If ur unable to reply to any of my arguments and only able to post pictures of green seats with tv on...
