Re: BRU 03/01/2010
And cause of bloody flightcare that took 1 hour to deice my flight to Munich I'm stuck in a Hotel in Munich as I missed my connection! Bunch of idiots I tell you I'm really not happy! Is it so difficult to invest in de-icing trucks??? Now cause of their crap service I'm missing at least a day of wor...

Re: Brussels Airport is a delight.
According to me both the main entrance and the A terminal are actually quite high compared to the ground. Therefore a lot less staircases, steps... needed to make the bridge high enough to let A 747 or other plane pass below. Secondly since DHL moved most of its ops to Leipzig I've seen less and les...

Re: Brussels Airport is a delight.
The reason for that is because you need to go underground to go to the A-pier and after that you have to go up to go in the A-pier. I know that I'm a user as well you know? They could connect the terminal with the A-pier on the ground in order of underground but than there would be a kind of corrid...

Re: Brussels Airport is a delight.
Only part of the story. They talk about - the B terminal being a short hop from luggage carrousel and the exit  Totally agree - A terminal being good for conenctions between Africa and Europe  Totally agree But what about check-in to A terminal? Awful! never walked soo much for soo lit...

Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
Interesting interview of an SN spokesman with eTurboNews (ETN) on 23 December, about the benefits for SN in joining Star Alliance, the relationship with LH, the codeshares with Jet Airways and future developments in Africa. ETN makes sometimes bitter remarks about the answers of the spokesman. Than...

Re: BRU airport website restricted viewing due to heavy traffic!
The website is not their key business. If this happens with an online retailer than they would be amateurs. But this is an AIRPORT not an online retailer. Yeah right! Their business is to move people as efficiently as possible from the outside world to the planes. How on earth do you do that if peo...

BRU airport website restricted viewing due to heavy traffic!
This is absolutely beyond me! So a lot people are currently being delayed, need more info than usual, and guess what BRU airport displays the following message: Due to the large number of visitors, only part of brusselsairport.be is accessible for the moment. We apologise for any inconvenience. What...

Re: Aviation feeding WC 2010 South Africa
FIFA staff and sponsors have 1.2 million tickets, and most are not from South Africa. Add another 1 million guarranteed overseas visitors, good for another 2 million longhaul seats. Doesn't mean that they will all be taken. One thing is to get free tickets to the country next door, the other is to ...

Re: Aviation feeding WC 2010 South Africa
And you are over-estimating the amount of people willing to spend 3,4,5 maybe 6 thousand euros a person just to go and see a football game. Add to that the shaky economy and even the most die-hard football supporter that already pays 2000 euros his season ticket will think twice before going. And if...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
The reason this plane is leaving its current fleet, despite being the youngest addition to it, is because it is an odd-bird out there, not really suited to fly short routes in Asia (as it is not equipped with brake cooling fans on the main wheels unlike the rest of its fleet), something which they ...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
I had a totally different experience from you Regi! I only went to DXB once but it was very smooth! On my way there I stopped over for 3 days. Going through customs was a breeze as I was luggage pick up (Not that it matters in this context) On my way back We had I believe 3 hours to kill in Dubai. W...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
Unfortunately CASM is part of the equation, not the equation itself. Since it only reflects how much it costs to carry a seat for one mile, it doesn't tell you how many big fat *sses you're going to put on a flight with X ASM, which is dictated by the rules of supply and demand. An average load fac...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
I'll let you think about what you wrote. That is just so kind of U! Hint: who already operates ZRH-NRT with A343? Double hint: Is an additional daily NH B772ER sustainable for ZRH? And who says NH doesn't buy a block of seats on the A343? And also isn't it the case that airline other than Ryanair t...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
Jet Airways has tons of passangers connecting to Bangkok (same for Etihad). A lot of these pax will fly Emirates if they come to BRU. Says who? I know that NH will come to BRU, no matter what EK does. How can you be so sure? Granted SN's membership in star alliance will help, 787 may help, but ANA ...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
Can't believe some of U don't want Emirates to come to BRU! Common Emirates would mean tons of 1 stop destinations! Who on eqrth likes to drive 100 km + by car each way to get on a plane! As for Qatar or Etihad they have a lot less destinations than Emirates does!

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
I hope EK will never come to BRU, actually... With al due respect to them, but they fly to everywhere in the world, so they are not 'exclusive' in my opinion. EY is more exclusive and prestigious since they seem to be selecting their destinations. And even more important is the fact that BRU would ...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
The fact that Emirates hasn't come to Brussels yet shows the weakness of the market ex-bru. Can only see 3 reasons why they haven't come: - Special agreement with Etihad (Maybe who knows) - Low yields (Ie not enough business Pax) - Not enough demand overall Low yields to me sounds the most plausible...
