Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

have made connections where I had to pick up my luggage and check it in again. I don't know how many people take a flight from company A to a certain airport and after that a flight from company B to their final destination. I wouldn't mind checking in my own bags at the airport after a train train...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

With the localisation of BRU being the most western hub of the Lufthansa group and the fact that US pre-clearance will be done at BRU. I hope Lufthansa will see the oportunity to use BRU as a hub for US ops Within two years, Lufthansa should be able to outfit a handful of A321LR with a long-haul bu...

Re: BRU Summer 2022: news, new routes, airlines

The shareholding may be an answer, less anxious/pushy to get a return on investment in the short term for Air Belgum, younger/leaner company has a smaller cost base, business customers want multiple frequencies and convenient schedules, leisure customers want cheap fares first. Also, when an airline...

Re: Air Belgium in 2022

So O/D for CPT alone can fill 1.5 flights a week. Maybe 3x weekly for JNB/CPT is doable if they capture most of the demand and create new one. Definitely a leisure route though. Biz travelers will prefer KLM's daily flight.

Re: Ukraine crisis 2022 affecting civilian aviation

Yakutia plans to restore the airworthiness of its SSJ100 fleet to replace foreign-made aircraft. In this regard, it is necessary to create a maintenance centre for the SSJ100 with the creation of a reserve of spare parts and consumables. Which would require access to sanctioned foreign parts, so th...

TUI already has the Max 8 and 787-8 on property and an outstanding order for the Max 10. They're not going to consider Airbus to replace 4 767s.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

Latest news is that the SUITE lounge (at A pier) is now closed. C class pax. on SN can use the Diamond lounge, otherwise the only option is the LOFT (at B pier). Reception at the loft told me that the closure is permanent(!) but all pax. are welcome in the LOFT, as long as they keep track of time. ...

Re: Ukraine crisis 2022 affecting civilian aviation

I assume that planes rented from Russian companies will not be recovered and will be considered lost. Is there insurance for lessor aircraft manufacturers that covers this type of risk, in this case war? Typically every risk is insurable until it is not. War may be an exception, but this is not an ...

RA-96019, Russian Government Ilyushin Il-96-300, on her way to IAD Washington. Maybe to collect Russian diplomats there? Likely usual diplomatic traffic (personnel, goods...) that may have gone over commercial flights before. The Russian diplomats expelled earlier this week were all at the UN in NYC.

Airbridgecargo a/c arent registered in russia, i wonder how it will work for them I think no plane from Russia will be allowed to fly from there. Question is how you define a "plane from Russia." As Acid-drop pointed out, registration is not very useful. Even Aeroflot operates planes on n...

Re: BRU Summer 2022: news, new routes, airlines

Of course I see the logic in that. But it's only flying from one hub to another. I would prefer more flights to other destinations pre-corona. Those are still not in place. They prefer more to add a plane to fly to their own hubs... afaik Brussels Airlines has not reactivated its entire fleet yet s...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Repainting an A320x costs approx. $50-60,000 per American Airlines. Deadheading a crew is a marginal cost by comparison. If the goal was to maximize savings, Brussels Airlines would schedule the next aircraft to be painted on the evening BRU-LHR, then ferry the plane empty to EMA overnight, and bri...

Due to COVID-related issues, the crew is not legal to file BRU-EWR non-stop. Very strange decision. Why would a crew be allowed to fly BRU-BOS but not BRU-EWR? What h...

450 seats in a 777? Don't count on me aboard! Mixed bag.... Small premium cabins, large coach cabin make up for a high passenger count overall.
