Re: Send an SMS or Email at Cruising Altitude on KLM

I can imagine in some situations these will be blocked. That or there will be lots of scared recievers of panic inducing sms messages to friends, famiiy or loved ones. Why? United has been offering IP-based messaging for a few years now (WhatsApp, Teams, etc.) without major issues or scared friends...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023

A possible destination would be DENVER: a huge airport now with connections to all important airports on West Coast + in MidWest. Agreement with FRONTIER Airlines would offer top opportunities. Frontier isn't big on code-shares, were you thinking interline? They also have limited coverage West of D...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

Question has been raised, the answer was that indeed during this winter, the flights hasn't performed as expected but still those flight are generating a lot of transit pax to Africa. There is than no plan at all to scrap it at the moment as those flight are necessary for the feeding. No doubt Brus...

Re: BRU Summer 2023: news, new routes, airlines

According to flightlevel.be, the Toronto-flight from Air Canada will only last 3 months, from Aug to Oct, to be canceled during winter season. I think SN should have kept on flying it. I read in ex-yuaviation forum today in the comments sections so please take it with a massive grain of salt but Ca...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

A bit more patience please I'd be willing to believe "more patience" is all it takes if the car rental garage hadn't been an embarrassing disaster for over 20 years! After all, it is temporary too, if we are to believe the very faded sign barely hanging on still at the entrance of the gar...

Re: BRU Summer 2023: news, new routes, airlines

The power of having loads of higher yielding corporate passengers which are out of reach to MOL, an attractive network and a good cost basis seems to be the trick to kick RyanAir out, despite commanding higher prices. An airport that doesn't give preferential treatment to Ryanair also helps (the co...

- Philippines Airlines, Manila Just why? Wasn't PAL planning on joining OneWorld? Did that fall through? Granted LHR and HEL are not ideal connecting airports to/from points East of Europe, but still puzzling. If it happens, this flight will live or die on the strength of connecting traffic through...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023

MIA & Orlando didn't work for TUI. What makes you think it would work for AB? 1. Markets change, what has failed once is not doomed to fail forever; 2. Pent-up demand for travel in the US has not abated yet (despite recession fears); 3. From what I am told in SA, Air Belgium much better at inbo...

Air Belgium in 2018 Air Belgium in 2019 Air Belgium in 2020 Air Belgium in 2021 Air Belgium in 2022 LAX and or SFR are logical destinations with stable markets, strong currencies and great potential of US and European citizens travelling both ways. Re: Air Belgium in 2022

Air Belgium is currently operating a flight for Air Madagasacar between Paris Cdg and Antananarivo with an A330-200 OE-LCL. I don't know if it's for a long period because Air Madagascar no longer uses its A340s for its long haul flights (since covid crisis). Kinda hope it is a one-off last-minute r...

Yesterday I saw fences around this soviet-building with the message "we are redeveloping this area"... What are they waiting for? (we are curious) ;) I saw a similar sign on the way to pick up a rental, was it last week or maybe ten years ago? I can't recall but one thing i know is I won'...

Re: Air Belgium in 2022

But I was already surprise that their A332F is leased to Emirates. This means that also that plane was for them unemployed. That's a jump too far. Each source of revenue comes with its own risk-reward balance. Companies settle for lower revenue in exchange for a lower level of risk to the revenue a...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Why not beginning by the A320 which still is in EW colors ? Often livery updates and maintenance go hand-in-hand. Less disruptive from a network scheduling perspective to take an aircraft out of service for paint and C/D checks together - even if done at separate facilities - than scheduling two do...

And in this particular case "move" means relocate at one's expense to another city with a Ryanair base with no assistance, financial or otherwise, from the airline.

So what? All the Brussels Airlines aircraft are leased from foreign companies and still registered in Belgium. Nobody cares where the planes are registered. Shareholders will care if they loose months with planes grounded due to paperwork though. If you had written "passengers do not care"...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

Unfortunately for Brussels Airlines, everything that could help it become a larger competitor in the connecting market is lined up on the wrong side: its brand, management, and ownership, the airport, and local politicians. You have forgotten a group of wrongdo-ers in your list: employees going on ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

What do you think? Correct analysis? For the first half, I do agree with your conclusion. Brussels Airlines has a small home market with significant overlaps from larger airports. That forces the airline to compete in every segment (premium, eco, low-cost) and it would be difficult for any airline ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

Quite unrealistic imho... We saw what happened in 2002, airlines flooded BRU to channel local pax on their own flights from neighbouring airports, international flights will crumble, Africa ops will go to CDG, FRA or AMS. Some small TATL operations will remain with UA flying smaller equipment,... T...
