Re: Crashes and serious incidents/accidents in 2024
Radio interference and bad -communication is causing accidents, so why is aviation still the one and only using AM radio ? Amplitude Modulation is oldskool from 1924 and still is a weak and squeaky voice transmission mode. At busy intl airports, important messages are stepped upon ( 2 transmissions ...

Re: Crashes and serious incidents/accidents in 2024
There are millions of camera's in the streets, why are there no HD nightview cameras at the start zone of the runways. Controllers would be able to see and control these zones as they were on the spot. Even a small region airport in my region has them installed. But not at an intl airpost (Haneda) l...

Belgian Government wants higher landing fee for private jets
Just on radio: belgian government want to rise the taxes and landing fees for private jets. At our int airports they want it to multiply by factor 10 or 20 They state that the landing fee on our regional airports is almost for free...so that must change too.. Should be no problem for companies with ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines posted positive operating results for the fourth time in a row in the second quarter of 2022. Profits came to €262 million, compared to a €185 million loss in the same quarter last year. Nice for KLM, how is the comparison with brussels Airlines for this period ?

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2022
There is one major reason and its called RYANAIR, RYANAIR is responsible for the decline of aviation. O'Leary has forced lots of airlines into loss... Is it normal that passengers can fly to Spain at a cheaper price than by bus or train ?? Airline tickets below 100 euros should be abolished ! Our SN...

Re: Several airlines cancelling flights to the United States due to 5G
USA Press: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has in turn said there should be a 200MHz guard band of spectrum between the C-band that 5G uses and the flight systems' band, which the FAA accepted at the time. According to this line of thought, if this isn't sufficient, then aviators can pay...

Re: Several airlines cancelling flights to the United States due to 5G
One will have to move a bit in frequency to create bigger (safe) gap between 5G freq and radio-altimeter, and i think it will not be the 5G industry...

Several airlines cancelling flights to the United States due to 5G
How is the opinion about 5G ? As i read, only radio altimeter frequency is a bit close to 5G

It is fantastic what Zara did, but i wonder how the risk of bad weather was solved ? i saw legs of +6 hours over oceans, some legs at 10000 ft over mountains; pilots here are aware that WX conditions can change very rapidly, clouds can come in very quick, CBs can build, VFR visability can change to ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
Pilots are trained to fly A330 ? By who ?? Most of SN instructors are retired or fired and no new instructors are hired, with the 330 instructors still available, conversion to 330 will take several months... apparently nobody had foreseen the indispensability of instructors

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
They count on "goodwill" of the staff; meaning: without any financial compensation... i wonder if these requests are originated by german managers, but they have to understand: such things do not work in Belgium.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
A330 pilot shortage; apparently Brussels Airlines has to cancel longhaul flights due to pilot shortage for their 330s, they do the utmost in searching pilots at rest with goodwill to perform some extra flights, but without a financial bonus, so the responce is poor... i wonder if the managers made a...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
Our olympic champion Nina Derwael returned thuesday from FRU to BRU with SN and she announced in a TV interview that she enjoyed the flight from within the cockpit (seat) (partially?) In my opinion and due to Covid regulations all cockpit visits during flight for non crew-members are strictly prohib...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Not only 320s, with the SN 330s on long-haul and surely the africa-lines: even most of their business seats at several thousands of euros (per seat) are sold !! The revenue of these flights is at max , and still not being able to make any profit - for God's sake, what is wrong with the policy of thi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
All those very long stories...boring to read...bottom line: before corona SN was not able to make profit, even not with an occupancy on nearly all flight of +90%. This is a very important fact for the decisions to come soon... No big stories with hundreds of figures...just ordinary farmers-wisdom gu...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
The 300 millions fund by the state is on its way, but this is only temporary. It should be used 100% for operational costs, but as our country has a reputation for illogical behaviour, a very big part will be used to pay out golden handshakes to the older managers in the B.house, for whom this is th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
After one (exeptional) year with small profit, BA financial results went down again, despite a passenger occupancy of +90% and a good yield rate. Nobody seems to be able to verify nor solve this problem and the challenge after Covid will be even higher, so...
