Re: Brussels Airlines takes over Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium
An interesting comment by Max Oldorf, the Chief Commercial Officer of ch-aviation: Back in December 2015, Jens Boyd, the Head of the Thomas Cook Group's Long Haul operations, was quoted by Bloomberg as saying the UK-based leisure giant would consider partnering Lufthansa's LCC initiative, Eurowings...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
FYI TCAB has significantly more than 160 pilots and cabin crew members on the payroll. What we were not told is that only full time equivalents were mentioned in the press release. Temporary contracts and crew with a part time arrangement seem to have been "forgotten". In the next couple o...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Hi! My parents are travelling with TCAB to Ohrid, Macedonia at the end of July. They just received a mail to inform that the flight will be operated by Air Baltic. Is there any leasing planned by TC for this summer? Yes, due to the limited number of aircraft in the fleet, there will be a substantia...

Sister company Condor (Germany) reports 2016 operating loss of US$14.7million on revenues of $1.4 billion, with 6% drop in pax numbers. Carrier launched a cost saving program to reduce operating costs by $42 million a year. Condor is also aiming for millions in synergies from closer cooperation wit...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Aircraft was under heavy maintenance in BRU and will be transferred to Condor as stated in a previous post for the summer season. Most likely it will be based in HAJ for DE flights. TCAB crew are planned to operate these flights.Konus wrote: OOTCX is flying again since 28FEB17 to TFS

What's your source concerning OOTCX? The confidentiality of sources is a right accorded to journalists under international law and prohibits anyone from forcing a journalist to reveal the identity of an anonymous source. Let me just say it's first hand information, not just a rumor or random gossip.

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
The image you get when you're a departing passenger is awful: it's like going 50 years back in time. Welcome to Brussels Airport, welcome to the 1950's! The walk passengers have to do from the drop-off zone towards the terminal is horrible: old and neglected infrastructure everywhere you look. You ...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Some interesting bits and pieces from a press release by Ralf Teckentrup (CCO): Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia and Condor are adding new destinations to their summer networks. Some 'interesting' ones from Germany include San Diego, New Orleans and Pittsburgh. Thomas Cook A...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
But shows maybe the more classy way of Thomas Cook compared to the ''marginalen'' / ''plebs'' of JAF . Since that is still how I see it. Classy people travel TCAB and the category i mentioned earlier and go once a year on a holiday to some cheap ass resort take JAF with the 20 years-old cabin crews...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
For summer 2017 Thomas Cook will base 2 aircraft in Germany. I'm curious as to where you got this from. Even internally there is no official communication regarding the summer schedule yet. I will correct then: it is rumoured that Thomas Cook will base 2 Airbus in Germany. ;) Thanks. Thought I miss...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Some more food for thought: "You gotta spend money to make money" TCAB started operations in the aftermath of the Sabena bankruptcy in late 2001 and later when Sobelair bankrupted in 2004, Thomas Cook Airlines started operating on most of those Q7 short/medium haul routes. They operated wi...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
The future of TCAB is unsure for season 2017-18. After the failed Volaris contract in Mexico and US (see TCAB in 2016 thread), and increasing (low cost) competition out of BRU on most routes, things are going from bad to worse. Officially, there are still 5 A320 aircraft in the fleet, however, only ...
