Re: VLM Airlines taken over by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
Never realized this myself, but looks like VLM had a sister company in the Netherlands which has now declared bankruptcy. A total of 75 jobs gone, flights from Rotterdam will now be operated by the Belgian company. At the same time, VLM is announcing a 'small and realistic' cost cutting plan in Antw...

Re: Jet Airways out of Brussels?
Probably not, a move to AMS is still rather probable, given this phrase in the press release: "Jet Airways may therefore have to evaluate redeploying its assets and services."travellover wrote:Could it be the end of any 9W - NA/EUR/INDIA - hub (BRU) or project (AMS) in Europe ?

Re: Jet Airways out of Brussels?
Jet Airways employees have been informed this afternoon that the activities in Brussels aren't sustainable as they are and the hub might be scrapped.

Re: BRU 02/11/2015
What's going to happen to OK-TVO (the Travel Service 737 operating for VLM/Sunweb)? It's flying to Hurghada and Marsa Alam again on Wednesday but I wonder whether it's really going to be parked in BRU on Monday and Tuesday? Any movements plannned?

Re: VLM Airlines taken over by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
As Inquirer said while I was typing... But yeah, the idea that this is really VLM being bitten by overly optimistic decisions from the past sounds likely as well. And not good news at all.

Re: VLM Airlines taken over by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
From what I read on the Sunweb-site, this flight is only operating on Wednesday and Sunday. That would leave VLM plenty of room to operate another charter from BRU and could very well make them a bit cheaper than Travel Service itself. I imagine it's not as easy for Travel Service to find another Be...

Re: ANR 02/05/2015
Don't forget... VLM is, for a large part, also a charter company. Some destinations may not exactly make sense, but for a one-off flight, if someone wants to pay the bill, they'll fly you there. Very much so. And why I can certainly see sn26567's point, most of these positioning flights are indeed ...

Today's Geneva flights are operated by OO-VLR instead of the usual OO-VLF frame. So it seems it's out of hibernationKonus wrote: OO-VLR is also stored in EBAW since mid dec14

Wasn't OO-VLF repainted before the start of the Geneva flights? If so, that would indicate that the white livery is in fact the current one.Boavida wrote:Does anybody know if and when the planes will get their full (blue) livery again?

Re: VLM Airlines taken over by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
There are rumors that VLM will fly next summer from Liège Airport 2 Italian and 2 French routes. :o The press conference at Liège has been scheduled for tomorrow and mentions VLM, so the fact that they will fly from there is no longer a rumour :) Can you elaborate on the destinations to be served?

And what about the benefits for LX in the other direction? Bringing in LX customers to ANR? Be it from GVA and most certain from ZRH. Within the Lufthansa group, there's a clear agreement to let LX handle the flights to ZRH (and the connections via ZRH) and leave the direct flights to smaller airpo...

Re: 2015 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news
The gva flight used to be code shared by Sabena until bankruptcy.. It will provide SN 's clients the option of flying from ANR and maybe returning from BRU or vice versa or simply making the return from ANR and will be opening an appealing new direct destination for it s Swiss gva based clients.. W...

Re: 2015 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news
Wouldn't MUC be a good route for BMI, similar to how they are testing Liege? I think Antwerp would make much more sense for them, even? Yes it would and BM is well known at ANR and uses planes that are a perfect fit for the runway. Which almost certainly means talks did take place but that ship has...

Re: 2015 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news
I agree, code share with LH and LX will be ideal.. I think that VLM will do much better if they also code share with SN on all of their future flights out of ANR. How would SN benefit from a codeshare on any of the VG flights? Codesharing still mostly means having another carrier bring in traffic f...

2255 AUR659F F50 OOVLZ GCI That is one VLM or ex-VLM plane, but what is it doing with an AUR flight number? Chartered out, perhaps? Re: VLM Airlines bought by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
i think the first new destiantion will be GVA end of nov with the reliable F50! I'm sort of bothered by how quickly they want to start introducing scheduled flights. I know they inherit a well established and highly regarded brand name, but at the end of the day it's still a new service. So many ot...

Re: VLM Airlines bought by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
So what's the difference between the standard SSJ100 and SSJ100-LR (Long Range)? Is the LR-version bigger? No, because VLM will actually receive the Base version first which will later be upgraded to the LR one. And that doesn't involve stretching it somehow :) From what I understand, it's mostly a...

Staying within short range, will Sukhoi/Alenia still undertake the certification effort for LCY?? They had some intentions in view of Cityjet's possible fleet renewal... Looks like they will, although VLM doesn't plan to operate the SSJ on the LCY route: One airport to which VLM is not currently ex...

Re: VLM Airlines bought by management
We all know what happened when VLM joined one of the other competitors. They seem to recover well from that hangover. Don't expect them to join any other merge-party in the near future. Although you never know in airline business. Valid points. But the way I understand it, being a franchise partner...
