I actually worked on this machine prior to it going to Africa. It was in a very good condition at that time.
I've also seen what a couple of years in Africa can do to an aircraft with respect to its condition. But I don't know wheather that was the case here...
Sad to see...

Re: Possible scam with take-off weight at Ryanair
No,... The question is not weather the German regulations and taxing is outdated or not, I think we all can agree that is is... But the fact that it is, doesn't give an airline the right to disobay them. So the question is, how believable is it for a big carrier as Ryanair to claim that tyey didn't ...

Well... yes it will start,... and no, it won't work... As a non-limburger, I've worked on MAA for quite some years. I've seen the operations of Exel and KLC, and I don't think they made money on the AMS route ever, just a way to get people to AMS for connections. Other routes either failed, or they ...

Former DAT Brasilia ditches
Looks like a former DAT EMB-120, OO-DTK, ditched into the Indian ocean today. No fatalities so far.

Re: Passenger lands plane at Dublin airport
My thoughts exactly. He must have been a company pilot. He was even a German national, so chances are quite big. No other German operator flies 747. And yes, off course he could be flying for a foreign company, but I doubt he would be allowed on the flightdeck in that case. If so, the captain will p...

Re: BrusselsAirlines - the TURBOPROPS will come!
Where did the Sabena ATR's come from? Wasn't that some Dutch company? The Sabena ATR's were supplied by Schreiner Airways. And both of them were complete heaps of sh*t. It was a intermediate solution for the Sabena demands. For the longer term in fact, Schreiner was looking at the Q400 allready bac...

Re: BrusselsAirlines - the TURBOPROPS will come!
I think getting ATR in stead of Q400 is definately worth considering. Then you can have a mixed fleet of 42 and 72, and optimise your route demands. But to be honest, I think the profit of a smaller type like the 42 is outweighed by the cost operating of yet another type. And you are less flexible i...

I don't post much here, but I do read a lot. So I sure have an opinion. As a messageboard administrator myself, I do understand the problems that this board moderators and administators face all to clearly. They have to take action in the boards best interest, and that is not always easy. But if the...
