Re: Boeing 747-8 news
Boeing already gave up the 747 pax versions, even publicly. But indeed the freighters still have a future, even though at low production rates as such huge full freighters are not flying by the hundreds, especially now that most modern widebodies have such great belly cargo capabilities. But to some...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Aren’t you forgetting the reduced security costs (hidden subsidies for BRUAIR), which were based on obsolete pax numbers to exclude most of the competitors? It is clear that there is lobbying against AB behind the scenes, that was one of the reasons of today’s press conference. Impossible you say? ...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Hold your horses fanboys, there are enough protectionist hands above SN's head, which is best apparent by the "proposition" that BRU airport made. Laughable really :D I do hope that Air Belgium will be a succes. There is nothing better for a market than some healthy competition. BRU/BAC i...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
They are talking here about the deliveries of the new A320neo's. Currently ONLY Lufthansa itself and Swiss are confirmed to get these (Lufthansa already has them and Swiss will follow in the near future). For all other members of the group, the split and delivery schedule has not been confirmed what...

Re: CityJet RJ85s flying for SN
Can happen that if there is an unexpected cancelation on BMA because of no alternative aircraft available (or cancelation out of BMA), that the flights are so full that they put an A319 on ARN to get rid of the backlog of passengers immediately (it's not a route where you say aah sorry, the next ava...

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
Renovation of the arrival hall is ongoing (very, very slowly) The ceiling of the arrival hall was removed months ago and is still not yet replaced. The arrivals hall is way too small to partly close it and such a renovation requires to work throughout the whole area more or less at the same time. S...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
So during the pick summer, there will be a total of 39 A319/A320 flying on behalf of SN, it start to be really impressive! Just for info Austrian has 36 A319/A320/A321, Swiss got 34 A319/A320/A321, both airlines are flying from multiple base while SN have the 39 A319/A320 based at brussels airport ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
In a very short period of time (since October 2017) SN will have grown its A320 fleet with 6 additional aircraft (some entering very soon, and all of them before the start of the busy summer). July-August will even require a wet-lease A320 because the number of summer flights will be so high this ye...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Anyone knows why SN is still hiring contract pilots through contractair? I thought some SN management pilots on here claimed it was only temporary to accommodate Avro to Airbus type ratings? I don't know who said that, but this is already the case for years and will probably remain the case for man...

Re: BRU airport monthly traffic figures in 2017
Hard to believe that transfer PAX are calculated in a different way as you explain. Let's see if somebody can confirm your explanation. I hope not every airport has its own way to calculate APX and Transfer PAX. That would be unbelieveable !!f It's not a different way of calculating, it's a differe...

Re: BRU airport monthly traffic figures in 2017
Still, with VIE performing 6mio transfer PAX, and BRU hardly 2mio , it is clear where the growth potential for BRU (and SN) is. You compare the wrong figures. VIE achieved 24.4mio pax overall and they report the split 'local' and 'transfer' (which is btw not an exact match, so I think they don't sp...

Re: Eurowings in 2018
Great, but in a few years SN will be Eurowings. LH bought the company in '09 to fence off its backyard and is now abusing SN as a trojan horse into EW. For now there is no immediate reason to abandon the SN brand and in particular on long haul that will not come soon either. If it does at one point...

Re: Eurowings in 2018
Their A330's also only have a very small SunExpress sticker on the bottom of door L1 (and on some pictures there seems to be something next to door L2, more or less the location where SN has the 'flying from BRU' logo - but it's not visible on most, so maybe they changed that). So probably this A340...

Re: Eurowings in 2018
LH's category of 'point-to-point' airlines (although that name doesn't make sense :p ) of EW+SN is now larger than for example SAS Group and around the size of Norwegian (full group) in terms of passenger numbers. That's indeed quite amazing when comparing that with just 1-2 years ago. And that's wi...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
North America was due to Toronto (-1 weekly flight because of an upgrade on Mumbai to 6 weekly) and Middle East because SN did a better job in managing capacity vs demand on TLV (a slightly negative effect on total pax, but overall a better performance).

Re: BRU Summer 2018: news, new routes, airlines
Can and will it ever be solved then? I think it is not only an issue of old Sabena debts. There are also the EU sanctions against Russia after the annexation of Crimea and the counter-sanctions by Russia. Eventually, the tempers will cool down and a solution will be found. Money can alleviate a lot...

I think they can not have code share since they have to fly over Russian airspace ... What does the flight routing has to do with a possible codeshare yes or no ? they're already codesharing the Beijing with them Codeshares are (or can be) also subject to the traffic rights and in this case the tra...
