Re: Pilatus crashes in US 16 fatalities
Well, there were some children in the aircraft, but Iwas wondering if there were 16 seats with proper seat belts in such an aircraft.

4000 ft with a 747 must look like 2000 ft with a 737, must be impressive, but standard.

They must have think of it,
perhaps not flying IFR if wx permits.

As far as I know, ATC does also have crosswind (and tailwind of course) limitations for using runways.

Re: il-76 down in Entebbe: 11 fatalities
It looks like it was a humanitary flight to Mogadiscio. The plane, an illuyshin 76, registration S9-SAB operated by Aerolift and chartered by Dynacorp was flying from Entebbe airport to Somalia with tents and water purification equipment for the African Mission to Somalia (AMSOM). only 1 picture fou...

Re: Turkish Airlines B737 crashes in Schiphol Amsterdam
Well, the GPWS takes its altitude info from the RadAlt, so that pretty much rules out the possibility of one monitoring the other. Besides, when established on the ILS, the GPWS will only generate audible warning <<GLIDESLOPE>> when the aircraft deviates from the glidepath. In the case of the THY 7...

Well, it seems that officials are not very cautious with communicating on such incidents/accidents.
Anyways, radio recordings should prove who initiated the go-around.
Not sure if they have a radar over there

apparently, he was aligned for landing with the Taxiway where 4 A/c were holding for dep.
A pilot of one of the awaiting a/c shouted "go around", otherwise, it would probably have been a deadly strike...

The airplane was "losscom" from Greece to Germany over a distance of more than 800nm. ok, sorry if I don't understand well, but if the flight was EBBR-RKSI maybe it's from Germany to Greece. Really surprising though, no coms for more than one hour over Europe and noone in the cockpits see...

A Korean Airlines Boeing 747-400 freighter, registration HL7603 performing freight flight KE-577 from Brussels (Belgium) to Seoul (South Korea), did not communicate for 100 minutes while enroute over Germany, but also did not squawk "loss of communication". Germany scrambled fighter plane...
