Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

We close our first semester of 2023 at -12 million euro, an improvement of 87% compared to the previous year. The first quarter ends up at -44 million euro - in line with expectations and seasonality of the aviation business - and the second quarter closes at 31 million euro Adjusted EBIT. The more...

You need an A321LR for long haul, with it’s 170-ish seats a guaranteed loss making aircraft on SN’s short-haul network.
Fair enough, just long haul then ;)

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Even if I could see an opportunity as well, I do not think this is the right moment as SN is busy with a rollover in the fleet, getting rid of the A319 in favour of A320neo. A319 require 3 CCM (2 CCM and 1 purser) while A320neo's requires 4 (3+1). This is quite a big expansion in term of workforce ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Since the primary objective of "my" suggested train is to connect the three Dutch major cities with Brussels Airport, let Brussels Airport be the terminal station, if it is technically possible. Schiphol and Antwerp could be skipped too, to make it even faster, but which public or private...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Please, forgive my ignorance. Which is best ? Vision 2040 or Shift2027 ? It's not what will be the best of the 2. It's about what is important now and in the very near future. Nobody could predict the attacks, COVID and the energy crisis. They all changed the landscape and the needs. Look at AMS in...

Now there is Shift2027
I wasn't refering to Vision 2040.

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

And cut the direct link with Antwerp and beyond? ... And to top it off, have check-in facilities for the comfort of pax. I do apoligize for not being clear enough. I would build 4 stops on this people mover: Above line 36 Terminal Under line 25N, with a parking lot above the E19. Vilvoorde railways...

Which excisting station? Brussels Airport? It doesn't solve the forementioned detour.

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

De detour and the limited capacity is making it difficult... Mayve converting the diabolo to some kind of people mover and creating railwaystations on the main line could be an affordable solution... but it's a long shot... And cut the direct link with Antwerp and beyond? The only solution I see is...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023

If Air Belgium gets close to reaching its goal of 20 destinations, I would not assume Lufty will stand still and not protect its position in the marketplace... But will they strengthen SN long haul to counter AB or just 'wait and see' and expect AB to fold? The major advantage for SN is it being in...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023

I wish them all the luck. If everything works out fine, they could even replace SN as the de facto 'flag carrier'. Does anyone know what BRU's position towards AB is? BAC is quite focussed on SN, which is logic, but if Niki Terzakis can do what he says in the interview, in the loger term AB could h...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

I agree with you b720. BRU offers less connections than AMS, CDG or FRA. Even, if imho, it is definitely easier to have a connection at BRU than CDG, and in most cases also easier than at AMS or FRA, most travelers outside of Europe have never heard or hardly ever heard of Brussels (the capital of ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023

During the state visit to South Africa, Air Belgium announced new routes this fall to US and 'an' Asian country. Not clear whether this will be from CRL or BRU. Nicky Terzakis also said new money will be needed to get more planes and expand the network. At the moment, most of the revenue is because...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Point taken  Easy :) When I say "start from 0", I don't mean demolishing anything but stripping the complete interior and start with a new interior design. This can be done in phases, obviously. Btw, have you seen pictures of the new extension during the presentation you attended? Wh...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

One more thing about the architecture of the new developments at BRU. I hope they realize these new structures will be here for decades to come, so the architecture should be interesting, remarkable, pleasing to the eye. Not like the bland, boring "design" of the new Compass building for ...
