Re: Accident near Dunkerque.

That really is on-topic, isn't it. I thought this to be a serious thread, but you just proved me wrong.
It (again) ends up in bashing other people, like the rest of this forum.
Goodbye!

Re: Accident near Dunkerque.

Maybe I should have told that I have 400h+ in gliders. I did my first solo (in a taildragger) after less than 2h of instruction. By the end of the PPL training, I also did some hours of aerobatics training, just to get the 35h total. All the formation flying instructions I have got from (former) mil...

Re: Accident near Dunkerque.

I agree with all above that formation flying should not be tried by experimenting on your own... However I do not agree that 'unexperienced' pilots with 'low hours' are unaware of the dangers of (formation) flying, and therefore should not do it. Being a PPL holder myself, with less than 100hours, I...

Re: Accident near Dunkerque.

Systems like FLARM (or ADS-B/TCAS, which is far more familiar in powered airplanes, and even mandatory for all aircaft with MTOW>5,700kg) can only prevent midair collisions, but will help very little when you lack proper airmanship. Although I'm questionning if these devices would have been helpfull...

Just out of curiosity, what is largest business jet that is allowed to fly with a single pilot (with pax)?

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet

This proves what the CS100 is. It's an obsolete aircraft, the new A318 made in Canada. It's a very heavy aircraft, only 13% lighter than an A318 while having 6% less capacity, and 44% heavier than the CRJ1000 while having only 10% more seating capacity. And having twice the range... In other words,...

Re: ANTWERP AIRPORT

757 at antwerp: http://www.asa-be.com/images/PhotoGallery_EBAW_Oldies/B757%20DHL.jpg Bernie Ecclestone has visited antwerp with his BBJ (737-800) as well. I think the CS100 does have a great potential from ANR, especially the ER version (with more trust). The standard version should have a range 300...

How exactly?

I don't think SN will fly to FBM anytime soon (because of restricting bilateral rights), Kinshasa really is the main destination for most people going to DRC, and still few times bigger than L'shi.

Re: Service Entry Date of A-350?

I will be (really) surprised when EIS is in 2013, as scheduled.
The first slips in the 787 program were known (made public) one year before planned EIS back then, so what Airbus claims for now is still worh nothing imo. Also, the A380 production ramp up isn't really without problems either so far...

Re: Glider down at EBSH (13/8/2010)

There are indeed some gliders equipped with a rescue parachute system, but not the Janus afaik. Some Janus' have a parachute installed, but that is only for adding more drag to the airframe, because its airbrakes are very ineffective. That parachute is not going to safe your life. As far as I know t...

€400 for a childrens toy? Wow man... Is it made from gold?

And from the pictures the state of the airplane certainly doesn't look that good.

Anyhow, I hope for you there is someone with far too much money to spent.

Re: What engine is this?

I haven't taken the pictures myself, so I don't know the answer either. I have not any better quality pictures, sorry about that. What first came to my mind was the 'standard' Lycoming IO-540, but after looking at the Glasair website, it really looks different. http://www.glasairaviation.com/feature...
