according to a German news report, the LH flight to New Dheli had 242 pax and 16 crew onboard when the gear collapsed. The LH Jumbos have a capacity at around 410 passengers - I do not know the excat configuration of the "Kiel" D-ABTK Jumbo. I do not think it is a weight issue or somethin...
