EBBR spotting 23 april

Post by killerwhale65 »

Hi all,

I most likely will go spotting @ EBBR next friday (if weather permits). 8)
However i will probably be stuck in the carpark again, cause my dad isnt home and cant come to the station to drive me home. If i would go to the 25L i would be in Ghent again at 5 minutes past the hour and miss my bus home by only 5 minutes (and i really dont want to wait 55 mins for a stupid bus!). So i will catch the train to the airport, better hours and more trains per hour.

Its sad, cause i have never been to 25L or any runway in my life

If anyone wants to join me, please feel fee... :!:

...and there might be something special tommorrow as there is a flight out of Tripoli with flightnumber AAW (????) around 12.20 (www.biac.be). Never heard of this flightnumber.
Good luck for our spotter who wants to get to the 25L

Gents,
The announced flight out of Tripoli with ICAO-code AAW should be Afriqiyah (8U-IATA-Code) but with an A300B4 (and not the usual A320).
I am surprised that BIAC uses the ICAO-code on their timetable as flightnumbers are always designated with the 2- or 3-letter IATA code.
Anyway, good luck for them who will be there (I probably will be there).

Post by arthurv »

Not a big surprise as the A300 is a Vip plane (ex Amiri Flight) and is used by Colonel Kadhafi and its entourage.

There was even a PLF flightnumber on the BIAC site, so the Polish AF Tu154 must also be @ Abelag.

Btw: what do U mean with the 3 letter IATA code? Its only used for airports, not for airlines.
So the 3 letter codes used on BIAC site are always ICAO.

sorry, luchtzak seemed to be down yesterday eve, and i had to go off.
next time better - have u on MSN now.
Anyway went to the carpark.

Saw the afriqiyah (TS-IAY) landing 25R taxiing all the way to the end and then to abalag.
Also a TAROM and POLISH Tupolev were there (anyone has the REGS?)

For the rest, it was the first time i had my, euhm, "MP3-player" (ahum ahum - you know what i mean) with me. Its so much more fun with then without!!

TWR: " Echo Alpha XXX line up and wait 25R"
Pilot: "Roger, Star Wings XXX line up and wait 25R"
TWR: "How do you call yourself sir?"
Pilot: "starwings, STAR WINGS"
TWR: "OK, haha"
Seems to be an European Air Express plane; is this new to BRU?

then ... the most remarkable thing: United taxies Whisky 4 tells TWR: "We are unable to takeoff at 25R, requesting the 02 if available"
ahum ahum. Soit no problem, TWR (it was a nice lady) was checking it out and a few minutes later approved the 02 for the United flight. TWR: "Enter rway 20 backtracking for 02 approved, contact 118.6 and hold short 25L". This means he taxied down the whole rway 20!
Anyone knows what happened here?

Next, i guess its normall a DHL plane had a Eurotrans callsign? Or not :?:

I also saw my very first Beauty!!! 8)

Sometimes it was rather busy at takeoffs. There were several times with a departure every 60 seconds, i wasnt used to that anymore in BRU. Once there was one that just left the ground and the next was already cleared for TO :!:

I guess thats about it. Oh yeah, there were also some BAF's doing nice manouvers :!:
For the rest all the usual stuff, but with an "MP3 Player" ( ) its fun :!:

  enjoy

PS: oh, i almost forgot, something else happened :offtopic:
behind me there was a car going down on the exit. pilot: male; copilot: female. Car seems not to be starting. So they have found no better solution then this: they pushed it to the exit (the exit goes quite steep downwards) then jumped in the car and steered it while it was going down, wihout engine. A lil later i heared it start after all :D

Nice story killerwhale65 :P

I went to BRU also today. When I saw that the weather was fine this afternoon I decided to go spotting. Even if Landings were on 02 I decided to go to the refugee Center and take pics of departing plane on the 07R. From that spot I also was able to see all mouvments on the 02/20 25R/07L.

Since I don't have binoculars with great zomm, and since I don't have my 300mm zomm, I wasn't able to read off many registrations of the landing planes :( I hope that there is at least one member who has been standing at 02 and taking regs.

Here is my log:

Many thanks. I will check the names in the future ;)

On this link you can find three of my pictures: http://coppermine.luchtzak.be/displayim ... =128&pos=3. (Click on the pic to have it in full size)

I'm very pleased with the result. And I really see the improvment comparing the TAP and IB ones with the TUI and HV ones :)

Hi Chris,

I guess that your next investment will be a new pair of binoculars?

I had the same problem till some time ago... Since I have my new pair of binoculars, I do not have to request a lot anymore. A week ago, I tried to spot the regs of planes landing at 25R (while being at the 25L spottersarea), and I could read off everything.
