Jat Airways makes solid profit

Jat Airways finished the year 2006 with a profit of 4 million euros, which is a big difference from its 2005 result which ended with a loss of 30 million euros. When Nebojsa Starcevic became the CEO in 2005 he had to deal with the fact that Jat was 30 million euros in the red and Starcevic promised a profit of 3 million by the end of 2006. Jat Airways officials say the profit would have been even bigger if there were no disruptions and cancellations of flights in a 4 day period in December at its hub airport Belgrade Nikola Tesla due to heavy fog. Jat Airways transported 1,207,712 million passengers in 2006, which is 17% more, then 2005. In the year 2006 it has the biggest profit out of all the Ex-Yugoslav companies with Montenegro Airlines having the biggest losses after it lost the Serbian aviation market after Montenegro’s split from Serbia in 2006.
