This article confirm the huge pression from Charleroi in the Ryanair case.
It's gonna rain banana skins most likely.
It's clear that LGG could attract flights that would never be handle by Charleroi anyway, but are they down to hearth enough to admit it ?
Weakening MST would also be an awsome plan, kill it in the egg, while you can. Belgium has a lot to win.

Chinese tour operator U-Tour is planning new flights between China and Liege, now via IrAero, an airline based in Irkutsk. While last year VIM Airlines operated to Wuhan, Xian, Shenyang, Changsha, Taiyuan, Zhengzhou, Qingdao and Fuzhou.
IrAero will now operate to Chengdu, Fuzhou, Taiyuan, Wuhan, Nanchang, Jinan, Zhengzhou and Guiyang. The additional stop in Russia is required due to traffic rights.

There's hope for long-haul aircraft soon :
''Most likely the airline will add one (or two) long-haul aircraft to its fleet in the coming weeks."

More seriously, it also has 10 Russian MS-21-300s on order (launch customer, to be delivered in 2019). Not big enough and too late for the China-Liege flights...

I read that GTLK (Russia) withdrew a claim for US$9.3 million against IrAero (Russia). Anyhow, preliminary hearings on $5 million lawsuit will be held on 29 March 2018 in the Moscow Arbitration Court.

https://newirkutsk.ru/news/strana/odin- ... o-otozvan/
A claim to the airline IrAero for 525.96 million rubles was withdrawn by the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK). Earlier it was reported that this company decided to collect through the court with "IrAero" 808 million rubles. This is reported by Interfax.
Two lawsuits amounting to 282.55 and 525.96 million rubles were submitted to the Moscow Arbitration Court in early January. After the recall of the claim for a large sum, the hearing of the suit for the amount of 282.55 will be held on March 29. At ГТЛК any explanations concerning the requirements to airline do not give. IrAero does not comment on anything either.
It is known that in 2016 - 2017, the airline issued documents for leasing with the GTLK for the lease of eight aircraft, of which four air vehicles were completely new, four more - previously operated. Last year, IrAero replenished its fleet with another side taken from the Yamal airline. However, the lessor was not named.
Re: 2018 Liège Airport (LGG/EBLG) latest news
I think it was already mentioned last year, but it is good to remind it, since it has not yet been implemented: CAL Cargo Airlines (Israel) plans to launch a sister company, Air Cargo Europe, in Liege under a Belgium AOC (do they know how long it takes to get a Belgian AOC?).
Carrier plans to launch in mid-2018 with one B747-400F initially. Possible routes for Air Cargo Europe include India.

The new plane will be a 747-8F. CAL was looking initially for a 747-400F but it appeard that buying a 747-8F wasn't that much more expensive and Boeing is providing for free the 747-8 type rating for 12 of their pilots.
Re: 2018 Liège Airport (LGG/EBLG) latest news
Ok but they bought the 744 already....
From the article "CAL has since acquired another ex-Jade Cargo Boeing 747-400ERF via the Chinese online auction site Taobao."

Re: 2018 Liège Airport (LGG/EBLG) latest news
Liège Airport main runway now always open in reduced visibility conditions
The Instrument Landing System (ILS) on runway 22L at Liège Airport is now operational in Category III, enabling aircraft to land safely even in the event of severely reduced visibility.
The ILS had been renewed during works in 2017 and is operational in Category I since November 2017. This enables operations when visibility is reduced to 550 metres.
The system has now been certified by Belgocontrol for Category III, in accordance with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) regulations. As from today, the ILS will be put into service in Category III. Consequently, runway 22L can be used when visibility is even more reduced, that is to say up to 125 metres.
The ILS of runway 04R (in the opposite direction) had already been renewed and certified for Category III in 2016. In this way, Liège Airport’s main runway is now always open in reduced visibility conditions.
The renewal and certification of both runways is a joint project between Belgocontrol and SOWAER (Société wallonne des aéroports). The total cost is nearly four million euro.

It is not "as from now" that the main RWY at EBLG is CAT III, it was already so for several years.
