2 questions for the pros :
How many liters of water necessary for the toilets and for pax minimum comfort for such a flight?
How many liters of bottled water, sodas, juices, wine, alcohol were on board? What's their total cost vs the cost of returning to London and cancelling the flight?
Diversions from around the globe (medical, technical, ...) 2017

From the respective APMs, the so called "Potable Water" capacities :
A332/3/8/9 : 700 litres, 1050 L option.
A388 : 1700 L (six-tank std), 1998 L (7-tank option), 2267 L (8-tank option).
Originally EK took more due to the showers but I think they reduced the total uplift.
Potable water is used for the galleys and toilets (wash basin).
Only a very small amount of water is used to flush the toilet, if any, and I think it is then mixed with the “blue juice”, the chemical precharge. (36-54 L for the A330, on the A388 each of the 4 tanks is precharged with 35 L).
Toilets are flushed by vacuum and the non-stick coating of the bowl requires a very small amount of liquid (0.2 L ?) to flush ... what needs to.
On short haul the uplift will be limited, e.g. 100 L, to avoid carrying deadweight but I doubt long haul will take less than full tanks.
You can check the amount in water and waste tanks on the Panel at the forward FA station.
A pic I took on an Air Asia between KL and PKU. At first the FA did not oppose my request but they kept coming back during the flight asking the why's and whatfor's.

Anything to do with the attacks in New York?
Re: Diversions from around the globe (medical, technical, ...) 2017
It's normal that this flight comes to Brussels: it's the Atl&anta-Brussels flight. What is not normal is that it was diverted to Boston before continuing to Brussels. Medical perhaps? If you look at the playback on FR24 you see that it flew quite normally until very close to Boston before turning abruptly and descending fast to Logan airport.

From a friend of mine, minutes ago (he was on board of the diverted plane):
Emergency landing of my plane (Wizzair W6 3021 from Bucharest to Tenerife Sur) in Alicante because two aggressive young guys. Being drunken or even under some drugs. Smoking electronic cigarettes despite interdiction. Spanish Police is expected to collect them.

The two trouble makers were Bulgarian. They were arrested and taken into custody by the police of Alicante, although one of them tried to get back on board. Plane to continue soon to TFS.
