I hope they don't keep on revising it as I am planning to spend some miles to hop on the A350 to HEL in May.

Another one of those regional airports which gets connected to BRU out of sync with the normal seasons!
They really have made a habit out of it to surprise us each time: anybody an idea why they always launch them mid-season? Anyway, they seem to be quite successful at it since they keep doing it, so good idea to expand the feed further. Times seem ideal to make full use of the hub in BRU.

If the idea is to feed into the Africa flights, 15th of June is ideal. Just days before the start of the academic summer holidays.. The real summer season commences end of June for most families, not end of march. I think that it is a good move, starting flights and having the seats filled up almost instantly..

Apart from adding another new destination to its summer time table, SN also increased the number of weekly flights to several of its popular routes to reflect the increased demand for seats: OPO will be served twice daily throughout the week for instance, while several other popular routes will get additional last minute frequencies loaded in the GDS... ;)

Some time ago there was a list of potential new routes posted for which the had asked permission.
I can't seem to find it back, but I remember Nantes was on it. Seems like they are working their way through it one by one, so it would be nice if someone can repost it, so we can tell which is likely next for next winter: they have made It a habit of launching one of these interesting network places every season it seems.

They asked the slot for:

Nuremberg (it was ok)
Nantes (it was ok)
Linz
Beirut
Istanbul
Toronto (it was ok)
Lagos
Libreville
Montpellier
Luxembourg
Toulon
Sheffield (but the airport is closed since a couple of year...)

Toulon will be great for the summer..lux should be on the SN map..not sure they can compete or compliment TK to IST. Beirut is covered by ME, I don't think there is enough traffic for both carriers.. I guess that Libreville and Lagos will eventually be added soon?

Hi all,

Some comments from my side:

1) Even though Nantes will be lauched in June, just before the 'high' summer season, it looks rather a full year service (twice a day is considerable). It is comparable to their flights to Billund. It is also not a typical summer destination.

2) Why would they not agree with TK and provide direct flights to Ankara: start e.g. with 4 flights a week and gradually add until a daily flight? That would be win-win for SN and TK and might open the door for a codeshare between both.

3) I think Beirut is still an option. I think that quite a number of people flying to Tel Aviv are heading to Beirut. Plus the current service is relatively limited (and is BRU not combined with AMS?). I don't have figures, but think the demand is there.

4) I assume Linz could work as a winter destination, but then I would think also about Graz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, no?

5) Toulon, in the middle of Nice and Marseille ... Why not adding frequencies to these two?

6) Luxemburg, although I would love to see it, seems more difficult: despite the fact that there is much traffic between Brussels and Luxembourg I think air travel is excluded for people from or working for the EC (400 km rule). So only people from Luxembourg going to elswhere in Europe or other people might use the connection. On the other hand, not obvious to go to LUX from different places in Europe.

Just my two cents,
Cheers,
Danny

I don't think this is possible... Last time I was at the Israel-Lebanese border it was closed.
It had been closed since ages... I'm quite sure it is still like that.
There's also no airlink between Israel and Lebanon. Lebanon does not recognise Israel as a country thus there are no diplomatic relations between the two of them.
So how could one travel from Tel Aviv to Beyrut?

... because fellow Star Alliance member TAP abandons the route. Probably an agreement between both airlines to have SN operate the route in codeshare.
