Today they were preparing for the event of the inaugaural flight BOM-BRU-EWR, thoroughly cleaning gate B30 and delivering a lot of plants. They are expeciting much of it.
I'm going to the event Sunday, I will try to take some pictures. By the way, if I'm not wrong, they will have some kind of "massage" in their lounge. :P :P

Indeed some very nice pictures. Seemed to be a well organised event.

In the meantime, tomorrow flights are coming in from Mumbai again and from Newark, first day there will be two flights.

I also saw on the website of BRU Airport that 9W put their flightnumbers on flights from/to Geneve, Stockholm, Oslo, Madrid, Birmingham (others) ...

In the booking engine of Brussels Airlines BOM, DEL appear (but not yet usable), and surprisingly EWR also ... :?:

So things are moving

More interesting news: Wilfried Van Assche was just interviewed about the first 9W flight to Mumbai on the radio, and he said that the FULL 10 daily 9W flights should be operational by summer 2008! That's, if I remember correctly, two years earlier than originally announced!

Also, he said the flights would create no less than 1000 new jobs at the airport, as well as 3000 indirect new jobs.

VRT also had an item in their news
http://www.vrtnieuws.net/cm/vrtnieuws.n ... ays_Mumbai

But somewhere in the report they make a mistake: "Jet Airlines"

I read more and more frequently on airliners.net the possibility of a daily flight India-Brussels-Washington (each way).

Anyone has info or it's just rumors ?

More a matter of 'wishful thinking'. So far, nothing points in that direction. Even today on VRT the Jet CEO specifically mentioned Newark, Toronto, JFK, Chicago and LA as the North American cities planned, so I don't think it's more than a rumor.

Is it true that no Belgian pilots are considered for the Brussels hub?
(Even when they are B777 rated).

It's not excluded there is an gentleman's agreement between SN and 9W implying that 9W will no "steal" pilots from SN. Just a guess.
In favor of quality air travel.

Thanks Air Key West, but there are not that many SN pilots rated
on the B777 IMO. (Look at my location)
Anyway, I wish them success as it will be a boost for the airport and
create a lot of ground jobs.
