Hercules C130 Inflatable Maintenance Shelter

Post by alon11 »

Hi,

I posted similar topic in Civil Aviation part. I hope not to break a low posting this one here. J.B. Roche also make shelters for military aircrafts like Herc C130.
There is a picture of its recent design:

Shelters are fireproof and skydrol resistant.

A bit off-topic: I remember an indoor tennis court's inflatable roof/bubble deflated during a power cut. The weight of the roof was so heavy that it damaged the indoor lighting masts as well as the tennis net.

I hope they have UPS provisions for if they are to put a plane under an inflatable shelter.

It is designed so that no damage is caused to the aircraft. shelter in storage bag weighs about 150 kg.

ElcoB: this picture shows another type os shelter. the thechnology is completely different. It not a portable shelter. It cannot be inflated, deflated and packed into the bag in 30 min. You probably need whole day to set it up.

Well, about the type on the photo :

Operational Characteristics:

* Sets up in less than an hour with four people
* Eyelid door can be opened by hand in two minutes
* 100% inflation with no unsupported fabric
* Material is anti-static and fire retardant
* Withstands 85 mph wind
* Roof can withstand 30 psf snow load
* Low inflation pressure
The patented design gives a free standing structure that does not require guy wires that are critical to other structures.

Would be great to have an inflatable maintenance shelter for a 747 in your garden.
