Good afternoon,
It hasn't been mentioned yet on our forum (to my knowledge), but next weekend August 12th and 13th...
There's the 34th International Oldtimer Fly and Drive in Schaffen Airfield.
More info? https://flyin.dac.be/ or on https://www.facebook.com/groups/57511165675/!
I visited this event last year with my children and it was wonderful!

I have been there for many years and hope to visit again this year. Indeed, if weather permits, I'll be taking my grandson there for his first flight (in a light plane) on Sunday. Already looking forward to the great "tower" staff - rumour has it they are volunteers who have a job at Brussels tower.

Unfortunately, the meteo indicates you might have a very calm day...

Re: International Oldtimer Fly and Drive In at Schaffen Airfield
Well , I didn't make it - while taxiing for take-off my nosewheel broke, dumping the propeller into the ground so that too broke. Lots of work, lots of expense, and worst of all I'll miss the beautiful flying days that August and September often bring.
A pity though that so few people round here seem to take any interest - there's so much more to aviation than airliners!

Sorry for you. How could your nosewheel break? What type of an aeroplane?
I hope you repair quickly and take into the air again soon.

Well, the repair will have to be done by my poor self. But, of course, with the help of my friends - who are many, and very able (some) and very willing (some, too, but not always the same ...)
At the very least it will take a couple of weeks to get the replacement parts, and more or less a 1000 €
For the rest, in the best of ultralight traditions, no comments. Except that for this once there wasn't even a shade of pilot error. Thanks for your interest, though!

Hi Jan, I was there on saturday afternoon... and it was very quiet! The positive side was allowed to visit an old friend of mine who was helping with the ATC! I learnt a little bit about VFR! Next year we should plan this better... I m really curious to see you and your plane!
