Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Bullshit at its best. All French cities are connected to the major hubs - some of them just seasonal, as real demand from French provinces is not as big as you may assume. Furthermore LH has a JV with United.. so they share profits and cost, even pax are starting in AMS. Sabena went bankrupt because...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The oldest A330 in the fleet are ex LH from 2005. As the current 343 are up to 27 years, the oldest 767 at Austrian were flying until their 30th and the 772 still planning to fly few more years it is likely to see the current and future 333 of SN due for replacement in a wave approx 2030-35. No need...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Probably within this year Dorothea will also be replaced by yet another CEO. He or She will also make nice interviews (more growth, more destinations, more frequencies etc.. like Dorothea said in Luchtvaartnieuws interview). Opposite will happen and foreign companies will continue to take more mark...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Well, this is the company has.
There was a good reason in the idea of integrating it into Eurowings.
Now you keep the brand and the emotion, but execute the product.
Brussels is a Eurowings but some little end of the tail attractive Africa long haul.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
And we talk about Cityjet CRJ1000 jets. Not A320. The strategy is all A320. CRJ May have been a feeling consideration and didn't worked out. Or, they can earn in wetlease more being located in MUC - the 380 are back and need to be filled. From a group prospective it may be the better economical dec...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
LH is flying some regional routes to MUC, where there is no real LCC competition. Brussels is a high LCC spot and SN is competing against Ryanair and Wizz. So would it make sense to wet lease A320 to fill it? What would be the yield expectations? The local market in Belgium is like that - if you cla...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I understand but is it not high time to change the very pessimistic Belgian mindset? We can see here a lot of complaining, but when the CEO finally is willing to fight for new planes bcs the company is doing better, it's again not good. Decide what you want. Still flying second hand or having final...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
About the wi-fi discussion it is important especially on long haul knowing that they are also day flights I find that it's missing very hard and it is really not a luxury anymore! From Luanda it's only Brussel Airlines and RAM flying without WiFi. The reasonable question is : what is the economical...

Star was not the only alliance.
Qualiflyer was another one. So good that the high flyers of it ended up as LH subsidiaries.
The grass is not greener somewhere else.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
SN has still only 10 long haul planes, the same as the beginning. Where do you see significant growth? Where do you see much higher number of pax? Where do you see the higher % of market growth at BRU? Star was not the only alliance. Qualiflyer was another one. So good that the high flyers of it en...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
So let't try to see the things from the groups prospective as well. LH took over Austrian in 2008/9. Brussels came half a decade later, including decisions taken as LH was a minority shareholder, on the last meters. As any fleet/financial decision needs time to be absorbed, SN needs to wait longer. ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
classy and fresh at the same time: Depressing, sad and dull are the most heard comments on different forums. The actual uniform is quite nice and fashionable, one would think there are more important tasks, at SN, to spend money and resources on. Branding is as well a part of the overall product, c...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Austrian moved to a pretty streamlined fleet over one and a half decades. F70/F100 -> replaced by E195 Q400 - exit , replaced as capacity by 6xA320 in VIE, no more small regional routes from tiny airports A319 - out of the fleet, instead becoming some A320NEO's 321 - due to replacement somewhere aro...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Don't you confuse internal analysis, thoughts etc with strategy? The communicated strategy so far for SN is to move to a simplified all 320 size fleet. Look at your larger peers in Austria how they stopped serving all marginal needs - Q400 is out, A319 is out, 321 - who knows how it would be replace...

The main reason for allocating brand new aircraft to the brands that actually can't afford them is as decribed the cost of opportunity - taxes at certain major airports.

I don't know if someone has access to WirtschaftsWoche ? According to WirtschaftsWoche, Dorothea Von Boxberg, currently CEO of Brussels Airlines, is one of the two candidates to succeed current CEO Carsten Spohr. It was mentioned too yesterday in an article on LinkedIn. In case that she would becom...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Thus it's quite hard for Brussels Airlines to built a big hub. It's not 'hard' for Brussels Airlines. They are not even trying . And with 'they' I mean SN and above all its owner LH. LH wants to keep BRU and SN small by sucking all long-haul traffic out of BRU to their hubs FRA and MUC. Today alone...

The former PIS government sees Poland as center for everything.
Reality is that Russia is isolating itself from Europe so they may have a much less optimistic outlook.
