Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
The main reason of the CityJet wetleases going feom SN to LH is the grounding of many A320 neo with PW engines. Originally it was indeed the plan to also have cityet wetleases for SN in S24 (they make profits), but it was reshuffled to LH because they will have over 20 a320 grounded due to the engin...

Regarding the wifi, there is currently no provider that can offer reliable service above mid and west Africa. Since this is where the majority of SN longhaul is, it's been decided to focus on other topics for now. There is no point in investing a lot of money in infrastructure and only use it 30% of...

It was an industry event in the Skyhall with many external stakeholders.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I don't know anything about any extention of A319 contract. For example, lease of SSF has been extended this winter. SSH, SNC, SND will leave the fleet. So it’s not always that straight forward. It all comes down to specific lease contracts and maintenance checks. Netto S23 vs S24: 2 extra A320, 1 ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Rumors are that many SN staff signed up for the severance packages, some amounting to 6 digits and years worth of salary, but there is no money to pay for them, and that LH is waiting for money from the Belgian government to pay these severance jackpots. If true, it's time to shut down this clown s...

I believe (correct me if I am wrong) this is the first time the Brussels Airlines is included in the Network Airlines traffic figures:

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Why fly to Newark? Let a second daily flight be flown by UA and look for another use for that equipment... Wow, is this the real Belgian attitude? After a lot of sad news in which a lot of people will loose their job, there are some (vague) prospects for growth and new destinations after the corona...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2020
@737MAX: You don't have to feel offended. I wrote "some other members", this board almost exclusively discusses SN, almost nothing about TB is discussed, while it is the 2nd largest Belgian based airline. TUI fly deserves more attention on this board. Numbers are numbers, these are objecti...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2020
TUI Airlines Belgium has just reported a terrible (financial) year: a loss of 74.559.513 €, Thanks for the info. I hope this also opens the eyes of some other members on this board. The max grounding is only one part of the story, the lease/loan is around $300k/month, or $14.4mill a year for 4 a/c....

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Unfortunately the consolidated loss does matter as, it’s in the books: 90 million plus 40 for 2019. During the years you quote debt went up from 400 to 500 million and 125 million state aid was converted into junk shares The marginal profit was based on unsustainable growth. What sums this thread u...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
One of Belgium’s leading economists, Geert Noels, is not impressed by the bailout, on Twitter he talks about throwing money away and LH conning the Belgian state a second time. Based on a non-informative article in de standaard? De beste stuurlui staan aan wal. Haters gonna hate, that sums up this ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Funny, you want to dump TUI who has been the best pupil in the TUI branch, who went sustainably in 16 years time from 4 old B737 to a fleet of 31 most of them factory new b737 and B787... But you are ok with dumping public money in a company that hasn’t made a profit in nearly its whole existence, ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
I could understand BRU would postpone some investments but I do hope they'll go ahead with expansion plans like A-pier West. You'll need top tier facilities in order to attract (keep attracting) airlines. Why would BRU do that? 2019 passengers levels are probably only coming back by 2023 to 2025, h...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
I read that Air Belgium is flying Belgians home from Argentina. Absolutely great, but why isn't Brussels Airlines doing this? Hi, it's a wild guess, but maybe because they BRU-based A330's don't have a cargo crew rest? OO-SFP has been transferred to BRU yesterday, maybe for this purpose? Flying car...
