Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
I understand very well, but there is as always a larger picture from the other side as well. Standard management answer that is not an answer at all. It took 25 years in aviation (of which close to 20 as pilot) before I heard the first CEO say they fucked up. There are a lot of illusions in managem...

Re: ASL Airlines Belgium & ASL Aviation Holdings news 2024
I think ASL Belgium are not the most to complain in the group. ASL France has really changed before (Aeropostale, Europe Airpost then ASL France) and after the covid. Almost all French Post flights (flights for La Poste) are now longer operated by ASL....operated either by Fedex... All their B737F ...

Re: ASL Airlines Belgium & ASL Aviation Holdings news 2024
Like in ... re-registering all aircraft from OO- to OE- (except the old 737-400 OO-TNN and OO-TNP, the bare minimum to keep "Belgium" in their name). That has absolutely nothing to do with being a Belgian company. BTW they were never "re-" registered. AFAIK they were planned OO-...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
20 in six months is quite a number. How many in the past 2 years, and how many in the months to come? If Brussels Airlines is facing the same problem as many other airlines, I would say the hiring rate and career progression at Air France/Transavia is quite the number. Of course no spokesman is goi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Training world is CBT and simulator. If qualification flights are required, the contrary would be true: the aircraft would fly flat out.Boeing767copilot wrote: ↑13 Dec 2023, 09:09 This is probably to familiarize the pilots with some technological adjustments on the neo

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Everywhere you have to work harder, more, being flexible for the same money. Just to make it clear to people what ’everywhere’ means: for the average Belgian it means a physical working place ’at home’ to commuting 1hr to a big city. For the world of aviation it means chosing between Zaventem, Char...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Few days ago, Rockets hit Tel Aviv Airport and we have seen people lied on the ground in the terminal and on the apron. Just for information... That is not true. Ballistic rockets are tracked by the iron dome radar system, if they are targetting the airport the local alarm will sound while at the s...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
If we try to compare like-for-like, we should look first at sector length. The average European short haul sector corresponds to distances served rather by regional jets in the US. Aicraft size is driven by expected loadfactors. Regionals are used to connect regional airports with main hubs. No dif...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
There not more than frech speaking wallonian pride behind it. Interesting quote. Whenever SN Brussels is on the verge of bankruptcy, the federal government has to invest money through extra loans. At the same time Air Belgium switched to cargo in very short notice and survived. And they are still f...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
Payload available (fuel, passengers, cargo etc) for each type would be about ... Johannesburg is a HOT AND HIGH airport. Even the A359 from Delta struggles to do the ATL-JNB route. It makes it barely. Note how well the 346 and 343 are performing out of JNB. There is a reason why SAA had so many. Yo...

Re: Air Belgium in 2022
Let's rephrase and debunk then. If the reason for the problems is "an exodus" I'm "out" of the discussion and not going to comment as I don't know the facts. If the reason for the problems is "an exodus to french contracts", unfortunately the problem is not related sole...

Re: Air Belgium in 2022
Absolute nonsense! There is no special fiscal status for pilots in France! Income tax in France is, indeed, lower than in Belgium, but social security contributions are almost double of what they are in Belgium. On top of that there’s an additional social tax of 10%. It depends on how you define &qu...

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2022
Since the existense of Brussels Airlines till today, i never heard anything positive about this company. It is always something downthere: social turmoil, strikes, red numbers, lack of funds etc. Year in, year out, 20 year long already. Brussels Airlines or pretty much every company in Europe? The ...

Re: 2022 Military escalation Russia - Ukraine - USA - NATO - Europe
I can only talk about the IS days in Iraq.I guess they use local military controllers who will control them and keep them clear of commercial traffic, if really necessary they will be controlled by AWACS. In friendly area's they might check in with local controllers "transferring -in/-out"...

Re: 2022 Military escalation Russia - Ukraine - USA - NATO - Europe
There are indeed many Russian airplanes flying within Russia. But, as it seems only normal that they fly within their own borders, it is probably not worth reporting. Of course, if Russian military planes were to fly within 600km from the capital of the USA or along its borders, this would be for s...

Re: Survey: Visual Descent Point
Before any comments are made, could you first then - according to you - explain what is the correct procedure? NPA procedures depend on 2D or 3D approach, where from a procedural point of view we will also refer to DA (yet you mention MDA?) as they are CDFA based. Pure MDA is only used for ie circle...

Re: Survey: Visual Descent Point
In all honesty, I don't know if I understand the survey. It seems to "general"...? Can you be more specific? If I understand correctly, this VDP you are referring to old NPA procedures with stepdowns. The majority of airlines use FMS systems that provide some kind of calculated vertical gu...

Pilots are trained to fly A330 ? By who ?? Most of SN instructors are retired or fired and no new instructors are hired, with the 330 instructors still available, conversion to 330 will take several months... apparently nobody had foreseen the indispensability of instructors Could be, but your way ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
The aim is not right or wrong here, I don't work for Brussels Airlines but after reading through all these messages some thoughts did pop in my mind. Take them for what they are worth. The reality out there is that the world of leisure has stopped and needs to be "re-booted". There is only...
