Tow truck under Lufthansa A340-300 Star Alliance livery catches fire at Frankfurt Airport

A tow truck below a Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 with Star Alliance livery (D-AIFA) named Dorsten has caught fire on Monday morning at Frankfurt Airport, the fire (flames) quickly spread onto the aircraft. Only minor damage to the aircraft, early reports stated*.

The aircraft was due to fly from Frankfurt to Philadelphia as LH426, the replacement aircraft is now D-AIGP, also an A340. According to Frankfurt airport authorities, six people were treated with various injuries.

It seems as if the fire made its way through the forward fuselage and hit the electronics bay. Perhaps the aircraft has even to be written off. However, this updated information is yet unconfirmed.
