An Italian tourist has died following a collision between two cruise ships on the Nile River near Luxor in southern Egypt. The accident occurred on Sunday evening shortly after 19:00 local time, when a vessel carrying several dozen Italian tourists struck another ship, destroying four cabins.
The victim, a 47-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries after falling during the impact and died despite emergency assistance. Italian authorities confirmed that the consulate has contacted her husband and is working with tour operators to support affected passengers.
Luxor, located near the ancient city of Thebes, is one of Egypt’s most popular tourist destinations and a major hub for Nile cruise tourism.
