No NS trains will operate across the Netherlands on Tuesday, 10 June, as union strikes expand across North Holland, South Holland, Zeeland, and West Brabant. Originally planned as a regional action, the strike now affects such a large area that NS says nationwide disruption is unavoidable.
International train services, including those to and from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, may also be impacted, though details remain unclear. Only passengers with international tickets will be allowed on those services. Regular train schedules are expected to resume on Wednesday, 11 June, though minor disruptions may persist in the morning.
Unions FNV, CNV, and VVMC are demanding wage increases beyond the 2.55% offered by NS, citing inflation losses. Further strikes are planned for 16 June (regional) and 17 June (nationwide) if no agreement is reached.
Road traffic is expected to worsen due to the strike, post-Pentecost travel, and returning German holidaymakers.
