Eurostar passengers faced widespread delays and cancellations on Monday after a power supply failure shut down part of the high-speed line between Moussy and Longueil in northern France. The disruption began around 08:30 local time and is expected to last until the end of the day.
At least nine London–Paris trains were cancelled, with another 15 delayed, and services were diverted to slower routes. Some trains between Brussels, Paris, and Amsterdam were also affected. Eurostar has urged passengers to postpone travel if possible.
The Eurostar trains between Brussels and London are not affected.
SNCF, the French rail operator, said the issue requires major repairs, with predicted delays of one to five hours on Eurostar, TGV inOui, and Ouigo services. One track is expected to reopen by 18:30 CET, allowing limited service, with full operations expected to resume on Tuesday morning.
The disruption comes during the peak summer holiday period, compounding passenger frustrations. It follows other recent incidents on the French rail network, including a train evacuation in July and fatal incidents and cable theft in June.
