Eurostar has unveiled plans to launch direct services from London to Frankfurt and Geneva, and from Amsterdam/Brussels to Geneva, using a new fleet of up to 50 trains set to enter service in the early 2030s. This expansion is part of a €2 billion investment aimed at meeting growing demand for international rail travel.

In the near term, Eurostar will increase direct services between London and Amsterdam, adding a fourth daily train on 9 September 2025 and a fifth by mid-December.

Despite economic pressures, Eurostar reported strong 2024 results, with €346 million EBITDA and a 5% rise in passenger numbers to over 19.5 million, moving closer to its goal of 30 million annual passengers.

The new trains will boost the fleet size to 67 units (a 30% increase) and be compatible across the entire Eurostar network. The company sees this growth as ushering in a “new golden age of international sustainable travel.“

UK Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander welcomed the announcement, highlighting it as a major step in expanding green transport links and strengthening European city connections.
