Dutch rail operator Arriva plans to launch new international services connecting Utrecht and The Hague with Belgium and Paris, with operations targeted to begin in February 2028, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The proposed network includes two routes: Amersfoort–Paris, via Utrecht, ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Breda, and The Hague–Paris, via Rotterdam and Roosendaal. Both services would stop in Antwerp, Brussels Airport, Brussels-South and Mons before continuing to the French capital. Arriva plans to operate the The Hague route three times daily in each direction and the Amersfoort route twice daily.
The announcement complements Arriva’s previously unveiled plans for a Groningen–Paris service, which was originally expected to launch in 2026 but has now been postponed until 2027 at the earliest.
If implemented, the new services would provide travellers in Belgium with additional direct rail options to Paris while increasing cross-border connectivity between the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Arriva, the main competitor to Dutch national operator NS, already operates the Three-Country Train linking Liège, Maastricht and Aachen.
