European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has extended its Conflict Zone Information Bulletin (CZIB) covering the Middle East and Persian Gulf region until 18 March 2026, advising airlines to avoid the affected airspace at all flight levels.
The warning follows military strikes conducted on 28 February by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran, and subsequent threats of retaliation from Tehran. According to EASA, the escalation creates significant risks for civil aviation, including potential misidentification, interception incidents, or spill-over from military operations.
The agency warned that the presence of advanced air defence systems, cruise and ballistic missiles, and active military aircraft across the region increases the danger to civilian flights not only in Iranian airspace but also in neighbouring countries hosting U.S. military bases.
Airlines are urged to avoid operating in the affected airspace entirely and closely monitor operational updates and guidance from aviation authorities.
EASA confirmed that separate safety advisories recommending airlines avoid the airspace of Syria and Yemen remain in force.
