The Association of European Airlines AEA deplores the cowardly attacks which rocked Brussels airport and the city’s metro system yesterday morning.
We wish to express our sympathy for the victims, their next-of-kin, families and friends. Attacks like these on innocent travellers, businesses and the transport industry as a whole are an outrage.
Specifically, air transport is a key enabler of economic development, prosperity, connectivity and social cohesion. Yesterday’s events had impact closer to home than ever before, hitting at the heart of Europe. Under very difficult circumstances AEA member airlines are doing everything they can to assist their passengers and meet their immediate needs.
It is essential that the air transport industry can thrive and function in a safe and secure environment. We trust that the air transport sector will demonstrate the necessary resilience to deal with this latest challenge.
