Vereinigung Cockpit extends strike at Lufthansa to Friday

Share

  • all flights within Germany and Europe affected on 25 November
  • all long-haul flights on this day operating as scheduled
  • Lufthansa will finalize a special flight schedule for Friday by midday Thursday

Lufthansa notes that, for completely incomprehensible reasons, pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit has already announced their next walkout during their current strike. The call to strike was announced for Friday, 25 November, between 00:01 and 23:59. This time, all short-haul and medium-haul flights within Germany and Europe are affected.

The third consecutive day of strikes will once more hurt business travellers, tourists and commuters. Lufthansa is therefore appealing to Vereinigung Cockpit once more to accept the offer of mediation and return to the bargaining table. It is the only place where a compromise can be reached.

On Friday, all long-haul flights from the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich will be operating as scheduled. By noon tomorrow, a special flight schedule for short- and medium-haul flights within Germany and Europe will be finalized. Lufthansa regrets and apologizes for the inconvenience that the flight cancellations are causing its passengers. Approximately 1,800 flights on Wednesday and Thursday have already been cancelled due to the strike, with more than 215,000 passengers affected.

The Group airlines Eurowings, Germanwings, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Brussels Airlines are not affected by the strike. Lufthansa Cargo is also not affected by the strike. Flights to and from Germany that are operated by Group airlines will proceed as scheduled.

Lufthansa asks that all customers take the precaution of checking the status of their flight before travelling to the airport. Lufthansa will also be notifying all passengers who have provided contact information in their customer profiles of any flight cancellations by e-mail or SMS. Customers in Germany can also call the free hotline at 0800 850 60 70 for information (free from German landlines).
