Several airports in Germany are bracing themselves for a severe industrial action by the German union ver.di on Tuesday 10 April. Flights between 03:00 and 16:00 (UTC) at Frankfurt Airport and between 03:00 and 22:00 (UTC) at Munich Airport will be affected. Next to Frankfurt and Munich, air traffic will also be affected at the airports of Bremen and Cologne Bonn.

Departments which will have a severe operational impact are in particular:

  1. BVD Ground handling including the relevant central infrastructure (e.g. Jet bridges, Baggage System)
  2. Security Checkpoints for passengers in the areas of Terminal 1, A Level 2 and A Level 3
  3. Parts of the Airport Fire Department

Passengers are requested to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport and to contact their airline in case of irregularities.

For tomorrow, Lufthansa is forced to cancel more than 800 of the originally planned 1,600 flights including 58 long-haul flights. The German airline expects to resume flight operations in full force on Wednesday 11 April.
