Tomorrow (8 March), a 24-hour national general strike is scheduled in Italy, seriously affecting the country’s education and public transport sectors, including air and rail travel.
The strike is backed up by Italian trade unions. Tomorrow is also International’s Women day, the Non Una di Meno feminist movement will join the strike with a global call for an end to discrimination against women in the workplace and greater penalties for male violence against women.
Passengers traveling by public transport to the Italian airports should expect disruptions, as well as passengers that are traveling through Italy on Friday. Alitalia – and other airlines – are informing passenger to check the status of their flights before coming to the airport.
