Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has denounced a Russian drone attack on a civilian passenger train in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region as an “act of terrorism,” saying it had no possible military justification. The strike, which reportedly involved three drones, hit a carriage carrying civilians and left at least four people dead, with two injured and four still missing as rescue efforts continue.
More than 200 passengers were on board the train at the time of the attack, including 18 in the carriage directly struck. In a statement posted on X, Zelensky said such an attack would be classified as terrorism “in any country in the world” and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
The Ukrainian president urged the international community to increase pressure on Moscow, calling for stronger sanctions and greater support for Ukraine. He accused Russia of “investing in terrorism” and stressed that protecting civilian lives must remain a shared global responsibility.
