Polish airports in Rzeszów and Lublin temporarily suspended operations early Saturday after the country’s military activated precautionary air defence measures in response to large-scale Russian air attacks on Ukraine. Flights resumed around 07:30–08:00 once the alert was lifted, according to the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.
The heightened alert was triggered amid renewed Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities, prompting Poland to scramble fighter jets and place radar and ground-based air defences on increased readiness. Allied aircraft from Spain, the United States and the Netherlands supported the operation under NATO procedures.
Poland’s Operational Command later confirmed that no violations of Polish airspace had been detected and that all systems had returned to normal status, allowing civilian air traffic to resume. Authorities stressed that the measures were preventive and aimed at safeguarding airspace near the Ukrainian border, as Poland continues to closely monitor regional security developments.
