The right-hand engine on a United Airlines Boeing 777 lost its cover and other parts while flying over the Pacific Ocean right before the descent to Honolulu airport, Hawaii. The aircraft (22 years of age and registered N780UA) left San Francisco some hours earlier.
Passengers started to film and took pictures of the engine and shared on Twitter.
Flight UA1175 landed safely in Honolulu and all passengers were able to deplane in a normal fashion. The Federal Aviation Administration is launching an investigation.
