A Tecnam P.92 Echo MkII light aircraft registered S5-PIF was forced to make an emergency landing in a field in Dworp (Beersel), Flemish Brabant, around 11:10 this past Sunday after experiencing engine trouble shortly after taking off from Grimbergen airfield (EGBG) with destination Hannut-Avernas-le-Bauduin airfield (EBAV), both in Belgium.

The pilot, who was alone on board, managed to land safely on Halderbosstraat and was unharmed, though visibly shaken. Emergency services, including police, fire brigade, and ambulance, responded quickly but were not required to intervene, as no injuries were reported and the aircraft remained intact.

“This is an unprecedented event for our area,” said Alex Geboers, commissioner of the Zennevallei police zone. “We contacted the aviation police, who are now handling the investigation. The cause of the technical issue is still under review.”

The aircraft could not take off again immediately and is expected to be towed from the field. Curious residents witnessed the unusual sight as the plane flew low overhead before making its emergency landing.
