A light aircraft made an emergency landing on a major motorway in Poland after suffering a technical issue, turning a stretch of highway into an improvised runway.
The Cessna 182 (registration SP-***) touched down on the A1 motorway near Swiecie, in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region, after the pilot opted for a controlled landing on the roadway.
Both the pilot and the sole passenger escaped unharmed, and no vehicles were involved in the incident. The aircraft came to rest on the emergency lane and will need to be disassembled before removal.
Authorities temporarily closed part of the motorway following the incident, but traffic was later restored.
