Due to a last minute aircraft change (TUI Boeing 787 engine problem) HiFly was called to bring 270 passengers to the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately the Airbus A340 hit the boarding bridge at Amsterdam airport, damaging engine number 2.
Member Homo Aeroportus explained in our forums that the docking guiding system (VGDS) has a known problem picking up the dark coloured aircrafts.
Stranded passengers were offered a hotel, other passengers preferred to return home. Finally TUI found a new aircraft via Air Tanker, flying out today.
