Sweden’s Civil Defence Agency is preparing to deploy four water-scooping aircraft to support firefighting operations in southern Europe, where major forest fires are currently affecting France and Spain.
The aircraft, considered highly effective resources despite their limited number, will be accompanied by Swedish team leaders travelling ahead to help establish operations quickly. The deployment is designed to provide a self-contained firefighting capability, allowing local authorities to focus on identifying priority areas while the Swedish teams manage the aerial response.
The operation is expected to last approximately seven to eight days, with the aircraft assisting emergency services in containing and extinguishing the ongoing wildfires.
