After an engine failure, a small two-seater ICP Savannah S aircraft registered F-JLHM crashed into Lake Geneva near Vevey, Switzerland, on Tuesday afternoon, sinking to the bottom shortly after impact. The incident occurred around 16:00, off Pichette beach in Corseaux.
Video footage shows the plane attempting a water landing before tipping forward and overturning. Both occupants escaped unharmed and were rescued by a passing private boat. Police have not disclosed their identities or the plane’s origin.
Authorities have implemented pollution-control measures, and the aircraft will be recovered. The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
