A twin-engine Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche (registered F-BPIR) carrying three individuals crash-landed in Villejuif, France, an unusual incident as described by the Paris Fire Brigade. The aircraft, arriving from Rouen airport (URO) and flying to Toussus-le-Nobrle airport (TNF), made an emergency landing, first touching down on a main avenue before crashing into a residential building garden.
Witnesses recall the suddenness of the event, with one resident describing the aircraft’s close approach to the ground. Among the occupants were two students aged 28 and 29, accompanied by their 82-year-old instructor, an experienced pilot with over 40,000 flight hours.
French Transport Minister Clément Beaune attributed the crash to an engine failure and confirmed an ongoing investigation by the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis to ascertain the cause. The pilot is in critical condition. The aircraft was written off.
