A small Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft (tail number D-EYJK) crashed into the roof of a residential house on approach to runway 26 at Ganderkesee Airfield (EDWQ), Lower Saxony, northern Germany, on Saturday, leaving one person dead and another reported missing and probably also dead.
According to police, the aircraft was carrying two people when it lost altitude for reasons still under investigation and struck the single-family home. Emergency crews recovered one fatality and continued searching for the second occupant.
The residents of the house were not inside at the time of the crash. Authorities evacuated nearby residents within a 100-metre radius as a precaution and temporarily cut power to the affected street while emergency operations were carried out.
A crisis intervention team was also deployed to support witnesses and people affected by the accident. Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the crash.
