On 9 August, a Royal Air Maroc Boeing 787 (CN-RGT) destination Casablanca was taxiing out to the holding point at Istanbul Atatürk Airport when it hit the tail of a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 (TC-JJZ), almost ready to fly to New York JFK.
While the Boeing 787 is seriously damaged on the right wing, the APU of the Boeing 777 got damaged. Both aircraft are currently grounded.
It’s not the first time this year that aircraft collide at the Turkish airport: on 13 May an Asiana Airlines Airbus A330 (HL7792) hit a Turkish Airlines Airbus A321 (TC-JMM).
